With schemes such as Youth Guarantee Schemes, through to supporting local work experience and skills development; the help of Urban&Civic we partner with local schools and colleges to provide skills days and relevant career pathway information to help people get more information about the construction industry.
"Constructed Pathways and Urban&Civic helped break down misconceptions that careers in this field are limited to architects or bricklayers. Pupils walked away with a real insight into how people-focused and diverse the industry truly is."

With the help of Urban&Civic, Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Consortium, local Government and independent investment and support we have opened a facility at Waterbeach, Cambridge, to be the beacon for skills training serving the immediate, local construction industry. Focussing on 'the now' and getting local people into construction, through to supporting career progression and the future of construction under one roof.

At the Construction Skills Hub and through partner training locations such as Mick George; we will be delivering gateway qualifications which inspire and promote the opportunities in Construction and signposting further opportunities to take the Pathway appropriate for them. Alongside these people hoping to enter the industry, CPD, accreditation and refresher training as well as Higher Education will all be taking place, reiterating in a real space the opportunities of progression and spectrum of availability in the industry.

Working with HMP Peterborough initially, this forward thinking, collaborative and ready to go model will inspire and provide opportunities to former offenders to get into the construction industry. When entering their resettlement phase they can complete certified training that gives them extra opportunity to gain meaningful and sustainable employment when released.

This innovative and collaborative project aims to bridge the gap in children's awareness of the construction industry while going through secondary education. This on-site Micro Construction site not only serves as a reminder to students of the opportunity the construction industry brings, but is a space where skills and industry recognised qualifications can be promoted and delivered in a safe, and motivating 'real life' space.
